29 04 2013

massive bass mondays

Skream & Benga

There has been a lot of new noise coming from across the Atlantic Ocean lately, a couple of the original dubstep producers Skream & Benga have been given a weekly time slot on BBC Radio 1 to fresh tracks from them and producers they listen to.  Every week there is 2 hours of bass being delivered to the masses, and this week there was a couple of new originals that stuck out to me.  The transitions between the tracks are nicely done and they even jump into the trap genre for a bit.  Their radio show features guest mixes and a little comedy from the duo every Friday night.  Here is their entire set, a great listen to get your day bumping.

A-Trak and Tommy Trash “Tuna Melt” Official Music Video

18 04 2013

I am pleased to bring you an awesome video for the groovy new track from Canadian producer, A-Trak teaming up with Tommy Trash from Australia for “Tuna Melt.”  For those of you who have ever enjoyed setting up a line of dominoes to see if you could get them all to fall in line then this video will blow your mind.  They rigged an entire house with rope, toast, toys, tongue depressors, and even some dominoes .  This video goes well with the upbeat and fun effects in the single, and should be watched and re-watched.

Excision, Paper Diamond and Vaski 4/8/13 Midland Theater Review

11 04 2013

After being delayed almost 6 weeks due to a blizzard hitting the evening of the original date Excision, Paper Diamond and Vaski were all able to return to Kansas City at the end of their tour to rock the Midland…and boy did they ever.  Vaski started the night off with some brand new tracks and some of my favorites “Insane” and “Where you wanna go?”.  Last time Vaski came to Kansas City he opened up for Nero @ the significantly smaller venue, The Crossroads back then I thought he was nuts to see live.  I am pleased to announce that this Minnesota dubstep producer hasn’t skipped a beat and he still brings a very high energy set no matter which order he is playing in.  I was able to capture some video to show you how rowdy the Midland was getting by 8:30

Here’s some fresh stuff of Vaski’s into “Where you wanna go?”

Paper Diamond previously of Pretty Lights Music grew up in the KC area so it was nice to have him return to our most historic venue, The Midland Theater.  With a brand new EP set to be released next week (April 16th) Paper Diamond had plenty of fresh tracks to lay on us and the crowd reaction was well received.  I wouldn’t call his new music trap, but he definitely has a couple new songs with a similar feel.  Boasting half of his Nightvision lighting setup it was just him and us getting wild for an hour and a half straight.  I liked that he played a lot of his original unreleased tracks for the crowd and the styling of his set is just comprised to have everyone in the room groovin’.  Here’s 4 videos I was able to capture of his set, all of it is the freshies so enjoi these until they get released:

It was time to take the huge cover off the 420 foot wide “Executioner” setup that Excision brought with him for this year’s trip to The Midland.  Last year’s X-rated stage was quite impressive and there was a lot of buzz in the Midwest about the set he put on then.  So to top that he worked with some of the best 3D mapping systems you can buy and built this beast which you can see “powering up” in this intro video:

Packed with lasers, millions of lights, 100,000 watts of PK sound and a cockpit that Excision can open and close depending on which visual effect is being displayed.  Here you can see him opening and closing it with some Kill the Noise and trap:

When you hear “Fire up the bass cannon” you know its gonna be sweet:

Later Excision dropped a womped up version of Rage Against the Machine’s “Pocket full of shells”

I really dug the talking robot effects for “Raise your fist” here

At this point the entire crowd had packed the dance floor so I went behind the soundboard to capture everyone getting down:

Nothing like jumping up and down like you just don’t care:

I then went down to see what all was going on in the soundbooth and check out this crazy visual program that the projector displays:

I went down to the stage for the finale and captured this:

Well it was certainly an epic night for womp especially proud that all my Midwest EDM fans were able to make it out in masses even with the rescheduling to a Monday night.  Be sure to Visit the Facebook pages for Vaski, Paper Diamond, and Excision if you dug these videos.
