Bassnectar @ The Midland Theater Review

Bassnectar at the Midland

Thursday morning Lorin AKA Bassnectar tweeted “The Midland in Kansas City is one of the most beautiful venues in the country. Tonight it will turn into a spaceship”.  The Midland theater was indeed turned into a spaceship of neon colors, flashing lights and heavy bass.  It has been almost half-a-year since an electronic dance music artist has sold out the massive Midland Theater in the heart of downtown Kansas City and this show did not disappoint.  This was the perfect way to kick off an excellent streak of hard-hitting artists coming to the Midwest to showcase their new work before summer festivals.   Lorin dropped everything off of his new EP that was released on Tuesday, VaVa Voom.  The balcony was bouncing like crazy with those dirty drops just like last year when he came to destroy the Midland.  The energy was awesome, crowd was energetic and happy to see Lorin visit again.  There were a few buddies of mine who came with and this was their first electronic music show and first time to the Midland Theater and they said it was “Uterrly surreal with all those smiling faces getting mega-rowdy for almost 3 hours straight and it was like nothing I have ever witnessed”.  I knew this was going to be a show for the books when it was announced, glad it didnt disappoint for a moment.  Its going to be one Wompy Spring in the Midwest folks…this and the Feed Me/Kill the Noise shows were an amazing way to kick it off.  Let the good times roll!
